PITTSBURG — Contra Costa County Fire officials were investigating a fire that raged through the building of a Pittsburg nonprofit housing organization early Sunday morning.

The two-alarm fire caused an estimated $1 million damage to the 7,500-square-foot building, at 329 Railroad Ave. in the old downtown, and about $100,000 to property inside, according to a fire dispatcher. No one was injured.

County firefighters received a call at 12:25 a.m. and had the fire under control at 3:43 a.m., the dispatcher said.

The cause of the fire was not known as of Sunday afternoon, the dispatcher said.

The housing agency, Pacific Community Services Inc., is headquartered in Pittsburg and has another office in Fairfield, according to its Web site. The organization offers homeowner and tenant-landlord counseling, and free legal advice on tenant and landlord rights. It also deals with housing discrimination, mortgage default and delinquency issues, and other housing problems in Contra Costa, Solano and San Joaquin counties.
